Access to services regulation and behavior

The NGU Libraries foster a dedicated learning environment for all patrons. To maintain comfort and productivity, we kindly request your adherence to the following guidelines:

General Principles
  • Treat other patrons and staff with respect and courtesy, both in person and online.
  • Stay informed: To ensure a smooth and satisfying library experience, kindly check your NGU email and visit the Library website (library.ngu.edu.eg) regularly for announcements, updates, and important information.
  • Respect copyright and usage limitations: All patrons of library materials must abide by legal or license restrictions, both for physical and digital resources. This includes compliance with copyright and limitations on copying, downloading, printing, and commercial use. Please refer to the Library's Copyright Policy for more information: https://library.ngu.edu.eg/copyright.
    Physical Spaces Regulation
    • ID Access: Scan your NGU ID card upon entering, and when borrowing or returning resources.
    • Considerate Items: Please avoid bringing items into the library that could damage our resources, equipment, or furniture, or disturb other patrons. This includes large bags or backpacks, food and drinks, or items that cause excessive noise. Small purses are permitted.
    • Noise Levels: Maintain a low noise level and use headphones for personal audio devices to avoid disturbing others.
    • Mobile Devices: Keep calls silent and refrain from using them in quiet study areas.
    • Shelf Organization: To maintain order, please do not return borrowed resources directly to the shelves. Place them on designated carts or hand them to a staff member.
    • Book Integrity: Respect library resources. Writing, highlighting, or damaging books, including cutting pages, is strictly prohibited and will result in fines or disciplinary action.
    • Personal Belongings: Secure your belongings to avoid loss.
    • Accessibility: Respect the needs of patrons with disabilities and avoid behavior that hinders their access or experience.
    • The librarian may require any person who is in breach of these Regulations to leave the library.
    Digital Services Regulation
    • Responsible use of library technology and internet: Library computers and internet access are available for your academic and research needs. Use them responsibly and ethically, respecting others and maintaining a safe and productive environment. For detailed guidelines, please refer to the Information Network and Internet Usage Policy: https://library.ngu.edu.eg/information-network-and-internet-usage-policy.
    • Engage in respectful online communication: Avoid cyberbullying, harassment, and disruptive behavior online. Treat others with the same respect and courtesy you expect in person.

    • Download only authorized content and report suspicious activity: Protect library resources by downloading only authorized content and reporting any suspicious activity you encounter.
    Additional Considerations
    • We encourage responsible and respectful use of the NGU Libraries to create a supportive and productive environment for everyone.
    • Library staff are available to assist you with finding resources, using library services, and understanding the policies.
